A custom diamond painting is only as good as the photo used to create it. Use this guide before ordering to choose a picture that will turn into a clearer, more gift-ready diamond art kit.

Choose a clear original image

The best file is the original photo from your phone or camera. Avoid screenshots, thumbnails, cropped social media downloads and blurry images. If you zoom in and the face already looks fuzzy, the final canvas will lose detail too.

Use enough canvas size for the subject

For portraits, pets and wedding photos, 45cm or larger is usually the safer choice. Larger sizes give the design more drill positions, which helps eyes, fur, hair, clothing and shadows look more natural.

Match the canvas shape to your photo

• Vertical photo: choose a vertical size such as 45x55cm, 50x70cm or 60x80cm.
• Square photo: choose a square size such as 50x50cm, 60x60cm or 70x70cm.
• Wide landscape: choose a wide size such as 60x90cm, 70x110cm or 80x140cm.
